For another year, msGUIDE was present at SPIE Photonics West 2026, a major event in the field of optics and photonics. The project coordinator, Dimitris Gorpas, participated in the BiOS conference, which focuses on biophotonics and the medical applications of optical technologies.
Within the Molecular‑Guided Surgery: Molecules, Devices, and Applications XII conference track, Dimitris delivered a talk entitled “Performance Assessment and Quality Control in Fluorescence Molecular Imaging” on 18 January 2026. He presented the work developed by his group on multiparametric standards for fluorescence molecular imaging (FMI) and fluorescence molecular endoscopy (FME). These standards represent an indispensable quality‑control tool to address system variability and limited measurement repeatability. The work demonstrates how standard design and data analysis critically influence system comparisons and can accelerate the clinical translation of fluorescence imaging technologies. In addition, Dimitris also served as Chair of Session 2, which focused on Endoscopy.
SPIE Photonics West is not only a key event for the dissemination of the msGUIDE results, but also a valuable opportunity for networking with academic peers and potential industry stakeholders who may contribute to the future exploitation of the endoscopy system and fluorescence imaging standards developed within the project.
